Navigating Life Transitions

Major life changes often bring both opportunity and strain. Periods of transition, such as beginning college, starting a career, marriage or divorce, pregnancy and family planning, becoming a parent, or adjusting to retirement, can disrupt established routines and challenge one’s sense of identity, purpose, and stability. Even positive changes can create stress when they involve uncertainty or loss of the familiar (as anyone who has planned a wedding has experienced!).

Adjustment concerns may appear as anxiety, irritability, low mood, or difficulty concentrating and making decisions. Therapy helps clarify what is changing, identify patterns of coping, and strengthen flexibility and resilience through the process of major life changes.
