Treating Grief & Loss

Grief is a natural response to loss, encompassing emotional, cognitive, and physical reactions that arise when something deeply meaningful changes or ends. While often associated with death, grief can also follow other major transitions—such as the end of a relationship, changes in health, or loss of identity or purpose. There is no single “right” way to grieve; reactions can shift over time, alternating between acceptance, sadness, anger, or even relief and confusion.

For some, grief becomes prolonged or complicated, making it difficult to reengage in daily life or connect with a sense of meaning. Therapy offers structured support for understanding the grief process, identifying what may be keeping it stuck, and finding ways to honor loss while moving toward renewed connection and purpose.

Treatment focuses on integrating loss rather than “moving on” from it; helping individuals rebuild routines, relationships, and self-understanding in a way that allows life to expand around what has changed.
