Autism Spectrum Evaluation

An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic assessment is a comprehensive evaluation designed to clarify whether an individual’s developmental history, communication style, behavior patterns, and daily functioning are consistent with ASD or another neurodevelopmental condition. The process integrates clinical interviewing, behavioral observations, standardized autism assessment tools, and caregiver or self-report measures. By bringing together information from these multiple sources, we develop an accurate, nuanced understanding of strengths and challenges and provide clear, actionable recommendations to support growth, learning, and meaningful daily functioning.

Consultation & Preparation

The ASD evaluation process begins with an initial consultation to clarify your concerns, goals, and background. This meeting helps determine the most appropriate type of evaluation and ensures the testing process is tailored to your specific needs.

ALPS ASD Diagnostic Assessment Overview

Interview & Testing

Next, we complete a comprehensive diagnostic interview and standardized autism assessment measures. Depending on your age and situation, this may include structured interaction tasks, play-based activities, caregiver interviews, questionnaires, adaptive-skills measures, or tools that assess attention, executive functioning, and emotional regulation. For adolescents and young adults, we may also explore transition readiness, independence skills, and supports related to school, work, or daily life. This approach helps us understand your communication style, social strengths, behavioral patterns, sensory experiences, and any areas where ASD may overlap with other conditions.

Feedback & Planning

During the feedback session, we walk through your results in clear, accessible language and discuss whether the findings meet diagnostic criteria for ASD or if another explanation best fits your profile. You will receive practical, personalized recommendations for therapies, school or workplace supports, and next steps that fit your stage of life, from early-intervention planning to accommodations for college or the workplace. Our goal is for you to leave with clarity, confidence, and a plan you can use right away.
